Botox

Botox is a safe, effective, non-surgical injection treatment option for aging and other conditions. It blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that can cause wrinkles.

A combination of factors can cause facial lines. Notably, it’s not just about the cellular changes that may occur, reduction of collagen, or photo-aging caused by sun damage.
Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. Botox is a quick treatment that works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults.

Botox specifically relaxes targeted muscles so they do not contract. Subsequently, the overlying skin in the treated area remains smooth and unwrinkled.

Botox treatment

First and foremost, our providers will listen to your treatment goals and perform a thorough analysis of your facial analysis and determine the appropriate locations of treatment. Small aliquots are injected with a fine needle. Most patients compare the sensation to a tiny bug bite. If you are concerned about discomfort, a topical numbing cream may be applied before administering your treatment.

Common questions asked about Botox injections

Will my face look overdone or unnatural?
Botox is a technique-sensitive treatment. Our providers are licensed experts in facial anatomy who will keep you looking like yourself — only with less noticeable lines. No one should be able to tell you’ve had anything done.

Is Botox only for women?
Not at all! Many men make Botox part of what they do to care for their appearance.
The number of men choosing treatments like Botox has risen fast. In fact, in the past three years alone, men have received over one million botulinum toxin treatments.

Will I see results quickly? How long do treatment effects last?
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours, full effect approximately 14 days with results lasting up to four months. Remember that results vary from patient to patient though, so your practitioner will plan your next appointment based on your results and aesthetic goals.

Do I need to be over 40 to start using Botox?
Simply, no! Botox has been FDA approved for use in patients older than 18 years old. Preventative Botox treatments, aka”Baby Botox,” are on the rise in patients in their 20’s and early 30’s. This trains muscles to prevent them from forming the deep unwanted wrinkles as we age. It is also useful for non-cosmetic purposes such as alleviating TMJ and migraines.
