Dermal Fillers

Restylane®, Juvederm®, Perlane®, Radiesse® and Sculptra® are all common types of injectable dermal fillers available today. They are all highly biocompatible making them safe and simple treatments to revitalize your facial appearance by increasing volume in the face. It is very common to couple a Botox® treatment with any of these fillers.

Restylane® and Juvederm® are clear injectable gels produced with stabilized, hyaluronic acid and water. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, however, over time its synthesis diminishes. By replenishing nature’s supply of hyaluronic acid, Restylane® or Juvederm® revitalize and plump up the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and giving a softer look. Results with these fillers are expected to last 6 months or more.

Perlane® is another dermal filler that was approved by the FDA in May of 2007. It has large gel particles that can reach the deep layers of the skin, allowing for enhanced volume capabilities. Using their clinical and aesthetic judgment, the Rox Spa practitioners may choose Perlane® to soften more prominent wrinkles, more severe facial folds, to augment thin lips or to improve facial scarring, including acne scarring.

Radiesse® is an injectable facial filler composed of calcium hydroxylapatite. Like hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite is biocompatible, so it is safely used in the body. One potential advantage of Radiesse® is that its effect can last up to two to three years.

Sculptra® is a facial injectable treatment that is intended for use in people with healthy immune systems as a one-time treatment regimen of up to 4 injection sessions that are scheduled about 3 weeks apart. It corrects shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles in which deep dermal grid pattern (cross-hatch) injection technique is appropiate. Sculptra® works gradually to replace collagen that is lost during the aging process.

Facial dermal fillers can also be used to:

  • Plump up and fill out the jowls (folds from the corners of mouth to chin)
  • Fill in facial depressions such as acne or surgical scars
  • Fill deep irregularities from soft tissue loss and fat loss
  • Crow’s feet
